ISRO is all set for a crucial launch this Friday morning, as it prepares to send the EOS-08 earth observation satellite into orbit aboard its Small Satellite Launch Vehicle's (SSLV) third developmental flight.
The launch will take place at the bustling Satish Dhawan Space Centre, located approximately 135 km east of Chennai. This event marks ISRO's return to action following a six-month hiatus. Previous successful missions this year include the PSLV-C58/XPoSat on January 1 and the GSLV-F14/INSAT-3DS on February 17.
The SSLV-D3 mission is the final developmental flight, following a partially successful attempt in August 2022 and a successful one in February 2023. The mission, originally scheduled for August 15, was rescheduled to August 16 with a one-hour launch window. The SSLV, standing 34 meters tall, can deploy satellites weighing up to 500 kg in Low Earth Orbit. The launch vehicle carries three payloads aimed at various uses, including satellite-based surveillance and environmental monitoring.
