In Maryland, firefighters were engaged in a search operation for possible victims following a house explosion in Bel Air, a town located northeast of Baltimore.
The Harford County Fire and EMS informed the public via Facebook that there was no ongoing threat resulting from the blast, which had levelled a home in Bel Air, roughly 30 miles (48 kilometers) northeast of Baltimore.
A photo released by county officials depicted several firefighters amid the debris of one obliterated home, with another damaged home visible in the background. Charred wooden fragments were scattered across the property, spilling onto the street.
The extent of injuries, if any, remained unclear. Emergency Services personnel were using specialized equipment to sift through the rubble in search of victims.
