The U.S. Geological Survey confirmed the temblor struck at 9:09 p.m. and was centered near Mettler, an unincorporated area in Kern County, located some 85 miles (137 kilometers) from downtown Los Angeles.
Local authorities in Los Angeles and other affected areas are currently assessing the situation for any infrastructure damage. Notably, the quake was felt at Dodger Stadium during a baseball game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Philadelphia Phillies, although the crowd did not visibly react. Meanwhile, the Kern County Fire Department announced via social media that firefighters would be surveying their districts.
