Seven individuals lost their lives in a devastating landslide that hit western Nepal's remote Baglung district early Tuesday morning, local police reported.
A collaborative effort by Nepal Police and local representatives kicked off immediate rescue and rehabilitation operations following the landslide, which was spurred by continuous heavy rainfall in the Badigad Rural Municipality.
The calamity, which swept away two houses in the area, also left four people injured, who are now receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. Immediate relief materials have been dispatched to assist the affected residents.
Just a week prior, on July 12, another rain-induced landslide on the Narayanghat-Mugling road swept two buses into the Trishuli river, leaving 62 passengers missing and only three managing to escape in a similarly tragic incident.
