In a daring rescue operation, rescuers were airlifted to forest regions in Sunrise Valley, Wayanad, on Tuesday. They were on a mission to locate individuals who had gone missing following landslides last week.

The challenging terrain, located on the banks of the Chaliyar River, required a specialized team comprising six army men, four Special Action Group personnel from the Kerala police, and two forest watchers. The team was transported to the site via helicopter, the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) confirmed.

Split into two groups, the rescuers began their mission from a local school ground in Kalpetta. They descended into the forest using ropes and baskets. Once a designated area was cleared, the advanced light helicopter relocated the team to their next search zone, making use of its unique airlifting capabilities for the difficult terrain.
