Karnataka Pushes Forward for Second Airport in Bengaluru
Karnataka Minister for Infrastructure M B Patil announced that seven locations have been shortlisted for a new airport in Bengaluru. Meetings with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, IDeCK, and BCG were held to discuss the project. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) will assess the sites before a final decision is made. Karnataka's Infrastructure Minister M B Patil announced on Monday that seven potential sites have been shortlisted for Bengaluru's proposed second airport.
A crucial meeting is scheduled with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to submit an application to the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
Minister Patil stated that discussions were held with IDeCK and BCG, with visual presentations reviewed. Initially, nine sites were considered, but two were discarded due to feasibility issues. The AAI will evaluate passenger density, connectivity, and environmental factors before making a decision.
Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar confirmed multiple stakeholder meetings and said the project aims for completion by 2033.
