Three individuals, including a minor girl, tragically drowned early Thursday morning as rainwater filled the basement of their home in Jaipur's Vishwakarma area, officials reported.
A lengthy rescue operation concluded with the recovery of the bodies of Kamal, his niece Purvi, and Pooja after the basement quickly filled with rainwater. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) West Amit Kumar stated that the rescue team employed mud pumps to drain the water and was assisted by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).
Given the narrow and deep access to the basement, authorities have advised residents in similar homes to avoid occupying basements during heavy rainfall. The city's heavy downpour, which began Wednesday night, resulted in severe waterlogging across multiple areas, including roads and the vicinity of Jaipur airport. Schools closed in response to the prolonged rainfall.
