Heroic rescue missions are unfolding in Wayanad following deadly landslides triggered by heavy rains. Makeshift bridges and human chains are being employed to save trapped residents.
Rescue teams, including the Army and NDRF, are battling torrential rain and dangerous conditions to bring people to safety. Tiny makeshift bridges were erected over swollen rivers while excavators worked nonstop to remove piles of debris and boulders.
Rescuers used ropes, ladders, and even formed human chains to connect isolated areas and ensure safe evacuations. The death toll has risen to at least 132, with fears that more may be trapped under the debris in affected hamlets such as Mundakkai, Chooralmala, Attamala, and Noolpuzha.
