In a swift response to a devastating landslide in Kerala's Wayanad district, the state government has sought the assistance of the Indian Army for rescue operations.
A Defence PRO announced on Tuesday that a 43-member team, led by the Second-in-Command from the 122 Infantry Battalion (TA) MADRAS, has been mobilised to support ongoing rescue efforts.
Equipped with a Medical Officer, two Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs), and 40 soldiers, the team is prepared to provide crucial aid to the affected area.
Their deployment aims to bolster existing rescue operations and deliver relief to those impacted by the landslides.
The landslides, which occurred early on Tuesday, have wreaked havoc, destroying houses, swelling water bodies, and uprooting trees.
Picturesque villages such as Mundakkai, Chooralmala, Attamala, and Noolpuzha have been isolated, leaving many residents stranded.
