Heavy rains lashed several parts of north Gujarat on Monday, inundating areas and disrupting daily life. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has already forecasted another spell of downpours for the coming days.
According to the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC), Prantij taluka in Sabarkantha district recorded the highest rainfall at 165 mm between 6 am and 8 pm. Other areas also received substantial rainfall, including Visnagar (154 mm), Mehsana taluka (141 mm), Lunawada taluka (126 mm), and Vijapur (123 mm).
The intense rains are attributed to a cyclonic circulation over the northeast Arabian Sea and the adjoining Saurashtra region. The IMD's latest forecast predicts heavy showers in north Gujarat and Saurashtra on Tuesday, with the southern part of the state expected to experience heavy rain on Wednesday.
