Defence Ministry to Launch 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' Tree Plantation Drive for Independence Day
The Ministry of Defence will launch a nationwide tree plantation drive, 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,' on Independence Day, August 15. The initiative, endorsed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to plant 15 lakh saplings in honor of mothers, involving multiple defence organizations and institutions.

The Ministry of Defence announced a massive tree plantation drive across the country on Independence Day, August 15. As part of the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, 15 lakh saplings will be planted nationwide.
This will mark India's 78th Independence Day. The plantation drive will engage the three Services, DRDO, defence PSUs, CGDA, NCC, Sainik Schools, and ordnance factories, the ministry said in a statement.
Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on World Environment Day, June 5, the campaign encourages planting a tree as a tribute to mothers. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh recently participated by planting a tree in memory of his mother and urged people to join the initiative to protect nature.
