Two school students lost their lives, and 13 others were injured when their pickup van collided with a parked truck in the Phephana area of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday morning, according to officials.

The victims, ranging in age from 12 to 17 years, were students of a private school, Ballia District Magistrate (DM) Praveen Kumar informed PTI.

Police reported that the driver of the overspeeding van lost control, leading to the collision near Kapuri Narayanpur village on the Ballia-Phephana road.

Yash Pratap Singh (16) died instantly, while Vishal Pratap Singh (17) succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital, the DM added.

The injured were swiftly taken to the district hospital, with authorities noting that two students remain in critical condition. Senior police and administrative officers visited the hospital to oversee the situation.
