Tragedy in Navi Mumbai: Four-Storey Building Collapse Sparks Massive Rescue Operation

A four-storey residential building in Navi Mumbai's CBD Belapur area collapsed early Saturday morning, leading to a rescue operation for five trapped individuals. Two people, Lal Mohammad and Rukhsana, have been rescued, while efforts continue to locate three others. The cause of the collapse, involving a relatively new 10-year-old building, is under investigation.

A tragic incident unfolded early on Saturday in Navi Mumbai's CBD Belapur area when a four-storey residential building collapsed, prompting a large-scale rescue operation. Two individuals, Lal Mohammad (22) and Rukhsana (21), have been rescued and admitted to a hospital. Rescue efforts are ongoing for three others feared trapped under the rubble.

The accident occurred at 4.10 am in Shahbaz village, where 52 residents, including 13 children, were evacuated. NMMC Commissioner Kailas Shinde confirmed the building housed several residential units and three shops. Despite its relatively new construction of 10 years, it failed, leading to this catastrophic event.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the civic body's fire brigade are spearheading the rescue operation. NMMC's divisional fire officer Purushottam Jadhav revealed that a dog squad has been enlisted to aid in the search. The investigation into the cause of the collapse is currently underway.
