New Plant Species 'Phlogacanthus Sudhansusekharii' Discovered in Arunachal Pradesh
Researchers from the Botanical Survey of India (BSI) have discovered a new plant species, named 'Phlogacanthus Sudhansusekharii', in the Itanagar Wildlife Sanctuary, Arunachal Pradesh. The species honors Dr. Sudhansu Sekhar Dash for his contributions to ecological research. The discovery has been published in the Indian Journal of Forestry.

Researchers from the Botanical Survey of India (BSI) have discovered a new plant species in Arunachal Pradesh's Itanagar Wildlife Sanctuary, officials announced.
The species, named 'Phlogacanthus Sudhansusekharii', honors Dr. Sudhansu Sekhar Dash for his significant contributions to plant and ecological research in the Indian Himalayan region.
The discovery has been documented in the Indian Journal of Forestry by authors Samrat Goswami and Rohan Maity. 'Phlogacanthus Sudhansusekharii' is part of the Acanthaceae family and 'Phlogacanthus' genus, which includes 13 species primarily found in northeastern and eastern Himalayan states.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu celebrated the discovery, highlighting Arunachal Pradesh's rich biodiversity and the importance of preserving such natural heritage for future generations.
