Nallathamby Kalaiselvi, the first woman to lead the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), has been granted a two-year extension, continuing her service until at least August 2026.

The Appointments Committee of the cabinet sanctioned her tenure extension, acknowledging her outstanding contribution since her appointment in August 2022.

Kalaiselvi hails from Ambasamudhram, Tamil Nadu, and has carved a notable career focusing on electrochemical power systems. She holds over 125 research papers and six patents, contributing significantly to the National Mission for Electric Mobility.
