Delhi's Urban Villages to Receive PNG Supply by March 2025

In a recent review meeting, Lt Governor V K Saxena was informed that 111 villages have already been equipped with PNG connections, and an additional 200 villages will receive connections by December 2024. By March 2025, all 383 urban villages in Delhi will have PNG supply, officials confirmed.

This is the first venture of IGL in Delhi's rural areas, previously limited to urban residential colonies. The first PNG connection in northwest Delhi's Qutabgarh village was inaugurated by the LG in December 2023. In March 2024, Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated PNG connections in 41 more urban villages.

Saxena has directed concerned agencies, including the MCD, PWD, DDA, and NDMC, to prioritize the PNG supply project, ensuring all permissions and formalities are completed within 30 days.

The Lt Governor stated that PNG connections in Delhi's villages contribute significantly to PM Narendra Modi's vision of clean and green energy for every household. He emphasized that the initiative would save villagers from the hassle of refilling LPG cylinders and result in both financial and energy savings.
