In a significant move, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced on Sunday that his government would distribute possession certificates of 100 square yard plots to more than 7,500 below-poverty-line (BPL) families under the Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana. This initiative will also see the registration of plots being completed on-site.

The distribution ceremony is set to occur at various locations across Haryana on Monday, highlighting the state government's dedication to providing housing for all.

Criticising the previous Congress government, Saini claimed that although the Mahatma Gandhi Gramin Basti Yojana had promised such plots, no written documents were provided to the beneficiaries. To rectify this, the current administration aims to allocate approximately 20,000 plots under the Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana, as announced in the 2024-25 budget speech by former CM Manohar Lal Khattar.
