Breakthrough Peace Deal Near Between U.S. and Iran
President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. and Iran may sign a peace deal soon to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The deal aims to end a three-month-old war and prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. However, Iran hasn't finalized the agreement, maintaining its negotiation demands.
On Thursday, President Donald Trump revealed that the United States and Iran might sign a historic peace agreement as soon as this weekend, aimed at reopening the crucial Strait of Hormuz to global shipping. Despite the optimism, Iran indicated that it has yet to make a final decision on such a deal.
Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei reported progress, stating significant parts of the agreement text have been settled. However, Iran remains unwavering on its negotiation red lines. Meanwhile, Trump expressed confidence, proclaiming on Thursday: "The strait will officially open as soon as we sign, which could happen very soon, maybe over the weekend."
The potential deal would represent a major diplomatic achievement for Trump, who highlighted that preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon was paramount. Additionally, Iran seeks the lifting of sanctions, the return of frozen assets, and recognition of its control over the strait. Regional leaders, including Israel and Saudi Arabia, reportedly back the potential deal.
