In a recent development, TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee has alleged an assault by BJP supporters outside a police station in Hooghly district. Banerjee claimed he suffered head injuries during the incident, which occurred while he was submitting a memorandum protesting the arrest of party workers post-Assembly elections.
Mamata Banerjee, TMC's chief, visited the injured MP and accused the BJP of undermining democratic principles. In response, the BJP denied involvement, attributing the confrontation to rising local discontent against TMC leadership. The incident follows another alleged attack on TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee in South 24 Parganas district, increasing tensions in the region.
As police maintained order in the area, Mamata Banerjee’s visit and shared images of Kalyan Banerjee with a bandaged head only amplified calls within TMC to resist what they describe as 'BJP-sponsored violence.' However, the BJP maintains their denial of orchestrating these events, insisting on their peaceful intentions.
