Shyam Prakash, a BJP MLA representing the Gopamau assembly in Uttar Pradesh, has publicly stated that electoral victories hinge more on strategic maneuvering, referred to as 'tikdam', than on development efforts.
During his address to village leaders, Prakash highlighted his own experiences, mentioning that even after executing development projects like road construction, the expected votes did not materialize. He advised the pradhans to employ traditional tactics like 'saam', 'daam', 'dand', 'bhed' as they prepare for forthcoming elections.
This statement follows the Uttar Pradesh government's decision to assign outgoing gram pradhans as the interim administrators of gram panchayats post the expiration of their tenure on May 26. These pradhans will manage administrative duties until new panchayats are elected, or for six months at most.
