No foreign visit planned for PM Balen during first 100 days: Nepal govt

Nepal's Prime Minister Balendra Shah has no plans for foreign visits during his first 100 days in office, focusing instead on implementing the government's 100-day agenda.

Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah, popularly known as 'Balen', has no plan to undertake any foreign visit during the first 100 days in office, government spokesperson Sasmit Pokharel said on Monday.

Pokharel, who is also the Minister for Education, Science and Technology, said the prime minister was fully focused on implementing the government's 100-day agenda.

''The prime minister is not going to any country, not only India, at the moment,'' Pokharel told reporters after the Cabinet meeting at Singha Durbar here.

''The prime minister is very much occupied with the 100-day works plan. We are all now very much focused on the work during the 100 days,'' he said.

Balen assumed office on March 27 after the RSP secured an almost two-thirds majority in the House of Representatives elections held on March 5.

Pokharel also clarified that there is no link between the proposed India visit of ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) chairman Rabi Lamichhane and Prime Minister Balen.

''Our chairman is visiting India in his own capacity,'' he said.

''There is no relationship between the party chairman's visit and the prime minister,'' Pokharel said, responding to a question on why Lamichhane was visiting India instead of Balen.

According to RSP sources, Lamichhane is expected to visit India soon at the invitation of the Indian government. Though the dates have not been officially announced, he is likely to leave on June 1, they said.
