India's Next Big Leap: AMCA Project's Foundation Stone Laid in Andhra Pradesh
The foundation stone for India's Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project was laid in Andhra Pradesh. With an investment of Rs 15,803 crore, this endeavor aims to generate 7,500 jobs and enhance India's defense manufacturing capabilities. In a significant development for India's defense sector, the foundation stone for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project was laid in Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh, on Friday. The ceremony saw the participation of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Minister Nara Lokesh. With an investment of Rs 15,803 crore, the AMCA project promises to bolster India's indigenous defense and aerospace manufacturing capabilities while creating employment opportunities for approximately 7,500 individuals.
Apart from the AMCA project, several other defense initiatives were also launched under the Drone City initiative. The ceremony included a defense exhibition showcasing cutting-edge military equipment like missiles, hand grenades, modern firearms, and a prototype fighter aircraft. Chief Minister Naidu and Minister Singh were joined by other dignitaries in inspecting the exhibition, according to a statement from the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister's Office.
The projects set in motion during the visit encompass a variety of defense-related infrastructures, including the Flight Testing Centre, Naval Systems Facility, Defense Energetics units, and Drone City infrastructure projects. The AMCA Aircraft Integration and Flight Testing Centre, spearheaded by the Aeronautical Development Agency, is anticipated to accelerate the development of India's advanced combat aircraft capabilities. Furthermore, Defence Minister Singh will lay the foundation for a new Naval Systems Manufacturing Facility at T Sirasapalli village in Anakapalli district, alongside several other strategic facilities aimed at advancing India's military manufacturing prowess.
