China's commerce ministry has voiced opposition to a recent decision by a U.S. House panel, which voted to advance the MATCH Act. This legislation intends to close loopholes in the export restrictions concerning chipmaking equipment.
A spokesperson from the ministry condemned the move, stating that China opposes any misuse of export controls disguised as national security measures. The decision to push forth the bill is seen as an overreach, according to the statement.
The ministry affirmed that China will vigilantly observe the ongoing legislative developments and will take decisive action to protect the lawful rights and interests of Chinese enterprises as needed.
