Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar expressed gratitude towards Mumbai's citizens for their overwhelming support of the BJP alliance in the civic body elections. The mandate signifies a strong endorsement of the party's developmental agenda for the city.
The BJP-Shiv Sena alliance surpassed the majority mark of 114 seats in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, according to the latest figures from the state election commission. Narwekar emphasized that this outcome reflects the people's desire for city development, crediting the trust to major projects like the Metro Rail Network and Coastal Road.
The BJP is leading significantly in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) elections, securing 90 out of 165 seats, while the Congress-Shiv Sena (UBT) alliance holds only 10 seats. The elections, conducted after an eight-year hiatus, paves the way for a new mayor after the last election in 2017 and the end of the previous mayor's term in 2022.
