In a significant political outcry, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Ambadas Danve has accused the ruling Mahayuti alliance of betraying farmers by failing to fulfill their election promise of waiving crop loans. He underscores the financial strain this has placed on poor agriculturists, who now face mounting debts due to unpaid installments.
Danve's remarks came in response to Finance Minister Ajit Pawar's acknowledgment of the state's financial constraints, which render it incapable of granting the waiver. Pawar had urged farmers to continue paying their loan installments on time, a stance Danve vehemently opposes.
The Opposition leader further castigated the government for ignoring urgent issues like loan waiver, favoring corporate interests, and sidestepping vital debates, such as recent murder and rape cases. Shiv Sena minister Sanjay Shirsat also faced internal dissent for the perceived neglect of social and tribal welfare in budget allocations.
