The Madhya Pradesh government's recent move to rebrand unemployed youths as 'Aakanshi Yuva' or 'Aspirational Youth' is drawing fire from the opposition. Congress leaders criticized the initiative, accusing the state of mocking the jobless populace, even as the government defends the move as promoting self-employment opportunities.
Minister of State for Technical Education and Skill Development Gautam Tentwal explained that the term reflects the government's mindset of encouraging youth, both employed and unemployed, to aspire to higher positions. Despite these explanations, the opposition remains skeptical, questioning the effectiveness of merely renaming a problem.
Further fueling the debate, Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar attacked the state government on social media, highlighting stalled government recruitment processes and describing the new label as a tactic to obscure inefficiencies. Singhar called for tangible actions to address the state's unemployment woes rather than superficial name changes.
