Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao recently held discussions with Maros Sefcovic, the European Trade and Economic Security Commissioner, focusing on achieving a 'level playing field' in trade relations. This meeting, which took place on Friday, was described as a frank and pragmatic dialogue by China's commerce ministry.
Sefcovic emphasized on the platform X, the significance of ensuring the EU-China relationship reflects balanced trade flows and investments, highlighting the need for symmetrical market access. He communicated the strategic importance of this dialogue with China to create fair trade conditions.
On his first visit to Beijing since his appointment, the Slovak commissioner discussed with high-level Chinese officials, seeking common ground amid long-standing trade disputes. This initiative comes as the global trade landscape faces possible disruptions, influenced by the U.S. administration's policies under President Donald Trump.
