In a sharp critique, Union Home Minister Amit Shah targeted Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for his remarks on Parliament's functioning, noting that Gandhi was absent during crucial discussions. Speaking at the 'Times Now Summit 2025', Shah pointed out that the Congress leader was in Vietnam when he should have been in the Lok Sabha.
Shah further lambasted the Karnataka Congress government for introducing a 4% quota on contracts for Muslims, describing it as a 'lollipop' measure for the sake of vote-bank politics. He reiterated that any quota based on religion is unconstitutional and warned that such policies would not withstand judicial scrutiny.
Addressing the issue of an alleged emergency-like scenario in the country, Shah dismissed Congress's claims, asserting that critics would be imprisoned if such a situation existed. He also highlighted Congress's past inconsistencies concerning a caste census, emphasizing ongoing internal evaluations to determine the right approach.
