Senior Congress leader Pawan Khare has raised serious concerns about women's safety in Odisha, describing it as a 'joke' amid an increasing number of crimes against women under both the BJD and BJP administrations.
Addressing a press conference, Khare, along with state Congress president Bhakta Charan Das, criticized the BJP for not establishing a House Committee to investigate the alleged rise in crimes against women.
Despite recent assertions by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi that crime rates have decreased since the BJP's rise to power, Khare highlighted ongoing issues, including the disappearance of thousands of women. Congress MLAs demanding an inquiry faced suspension, sparking further demonstrations on the issue.
