Ukraine and the United States are still locked in complex negotiations over a mineral deal that could impact the control of Ukraine's natural resources. Ukrainian officials have not finalized an agreement, as the latest proposal from Washington demands all Ukrainian profit from natural resources until U.S. wartime aid is fully repaid.

Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko stated that Kyiv would issue a stance only after achieving consensus. Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy's administration is engaged in consultations across ministries, highlighting the sensitive nature of the discussions. Washington's proposal reportedly entails no future security guarantees for Ukraine, adding an additional layer of complexity.

The discussion surfaces amid broader geopolitical tensions, with both the Trump administration and Russian President Vladimir Putin putting pressure on Ukraine. The U.S. insists its plan would foster a lasting economic relationship, but the uncertainty persists as Ukraine also navigates a volatile ceasefire with Russia, adding to its strategic challenges.
