A nine-hour bandh paralyzed Ranchi on Thursday as BJP and AJSU supporters protested the killing of Anil Mahto 'Tiger', the BJP's Ranchi Rural District general secretary. Demonstrators blocked roads and forced businesses and schools to close in a display of anger over the political assassination.
Authorities took swift action, detaining several leaders and making arrests to quell potential unrest. Police claimed that one individual had been arrested in connection with Mahto's killing, which had cast a shadow over the city's law and order situation.
Political figures, including former Chief Minister Raghubar Das, condemned the incidents and called for better governance. Das and other leaders from the NDA paid their respects to Mahto, highlighting the need for improved safety in the state.
