In a heated protest on Thursday, members of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) voiced strong opposition within the Telangana Legislative Council, accusing the Congress-led government of failing to deliver on its promises to farmers. The BRS MLCs carried posters accusing Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's administration of deceiving the agrarian community under the guise of a loan waiver scheme.
Marking a significant political alliance, BRS Working President K T Rama Rao extended his gratitude to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for her vocal criticism of the Congress government's approach. While acknowledging pre-existing political differences with Sitharaman, Rao expressed appreciation on social media for her focus on the farmers' plight, underscoring the shortfall of the loan waiver's reach.
Furthering the rhetoric, Rao detailed the ongoing distress within Telangana's farming sector, marked by rising farmer suicides and severe water shortages. He condemned the BJP state's leadership for allegedly failing to voice solidarity with the farmers. Reinforcing her stance, Sitharaman cited lapses in the implementation of the Rythu Runa Mafi Yojana, emphasizing unfulfilled promises under the scheme.
