On Wednesday, tensions soared in Agra as Samajwadi Party (SP) Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Lal Suman's residence faced vandalism by Karni Sena activists. This followed Suman's controversial remarks in Parliament about Rana Sanga, a revered Rajput figure, igniting outrage.
The Karni Sena, known for its staunch advocacy of Rajput pride, demanded apologies from both Suman and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav. The activists, brandishing sticks, rods, and swords, vandalized the property, sparking criticism aimed at the state's law enforcement capabilities.
As political tensions rose, Akhilesh Yadav condemned the attack, questioning Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's authority in the matter. The police intervened, detaining several protesters, while the incident further fueled debates about historical narratives and government accountability.
