Amid controversy in the Lok Sabha, the Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, alleges he was barred from speaking on Wednesday, echoing ongoing claims of governmental silencing of opposition voices. Trinamool Congress MP Shatrughan Sinha publicly condemned the incident, deeming it 'shameful' and 'condemnable.'
Sinha expressed concerns over the government's persistent avoidance of addressing competent challengers, questioning the limits of such suppression. 'Rahul Gandhi told the truth. How long will you stop everyone? You can't fool people all the time,' Sinha stated, urging respect for opposition dialogue.
Gandhi reiterated his respect for parliamentary norms, emphasizing the convention allowing opposition leaders to speak, which was disregarded in his case. He wished to address the Maha Kumbh Mela and unemployment, feeling unjustly silenced. Speaker Om Birla reminded all members, especially the opposition, to adhere to parliamentary decorum, following repeated conduct-related disruption claims.
