India, China Progress on Border Management in Diplomatic Talks

Senior Indian diplomat Gourangalal Das, Joint Secretary (East Asia) in the Ministry of External Affairs, spearheaded the Indian delegation at the 33rd Meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC) on China-India Border Affairs in Beijing. The talks zeroed in on effective border management and resuming cross-border cooperation, including engagements on trans-border rivers and the Kailash-Mansarovar Yatra.
Such diplomatic discourse, held in a positive and constructive atmosphere, reviewed decisions from the Special Representatives dialogue between NSA Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in December. The two countries agreed to prepare thoroughly for the upcoming Special Representatives meeting in India, alongside reinforcing peace along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
The Chinese Foreign Ministry highlighted the forward-looking nature of discussions, emphasizing consensus on boundary negotiations and border control measures. Both nations expressed intent to maintain peace and actively prepare for the next Special Representatives meeting, underscoring the critical importance of tranquillity for bilateral relations' development.
