In a dramatic turn of events during the Lok Sabha session on Wednesday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused the Speaker of denying him the opportunity to voice his opinions. The Leader of Opposition was eager to discuss significant issues like the Maha Kumbh Mela and rising unemployment, but was allegedly silenced.
Rahul Gandhi, visibly frustrated, emphasized the convention that typically allows the Leader of Opposition to be heard when standing to speak. 'I don't know what is going on,' he stated, lamenting the speaker's unexpected decision to adjourn the House instead of allowing dialogue.
Meanwhile, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla maintained that rules and decorum were paramount. Congress MP Karti Chidambaram expressed bewilderment at the Speaker's actions, likening the session to a school assembly. The second part of the budget session had only just begun on March 10 and is set to continue until April 4.
