The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) renewed its call for the state government to recommend party founder Lalu Prasad for the Bharat Ratna during a session of the Bihar Assembly on Wednesday.
RJD MLA Mukesh Kumar Raushan raised the demand through a private member's Bill, asserting that Prasad is a champion of social justice who has given a voice to the marginalized.
However, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary stated that no proposal is being considered by the state government, leading to the Bill's defeat by voice vote.
