Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar has ignited a fervent debate in Bihar, asserting that the construction of major roads across the state serves more than just infrastructural upgrades. Kumar claims these projects aim to facilitate the exploitation of Bihar's rich water resources by industrialists, warning of future scarcity.
Kumar made these statements during a press conference on Tuesday, alleging that industrialists see Bihar's water as a lucrative asset, predicting that water will eventually surpass petrol in value. His allegations coincide with the construction of the Amas-Darbhanga Expressway under the central government's Bharatmala project, a key infrastructure initiative spanning 189 km.
Simultaneously, Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is embroiled in controversy after being accused in court of disrespecting the national anthem at an event. A petition filed by Vikas Paswan and represented by Advocate Amit Kumar alleges the CM's inaction during the anthem violated national sentiments.
