Tensions have risen in Maharashtra's political circle as BJP legislator Pravin Darekar submitted a breach of privilege motion against stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra and Shiv Sena spokesperson Sushma Andhare.
Darekar claimed that Kamra's performance featured a song with personal and insulting remarks directed at Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, which Andhare supported using objectionable language.
These actions, according to Darekar, amount to contempt of the House. The legislative decision now awaits the intervention of speaker Rahul Narwekar after Shiv Sena MLA Ramesh Bornare also filed a notice against Andhare for allegedly mocking Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
