Atishi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Legislative Assembly, has leveled serious allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its purported reluctance to engage in a substantive discussion on the budget. She has formally petitioned Speaker Vijender Gupta, advocating for at least two days to thoroughly dissect the budget proposal.

In her missive, Atishi emphasized the significance of the budgetary debates, arguing that these discussions are an essential component of parliamentary procedures. The budget, introduced by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, is touted as transformative, yet, Atishi is concerned by the limited time allocated for legislative scrutiny and public accountability.

The Delhi Leader of the Opposition voiced alarm over the absence of an Economic Survey, a customary precursor to budget discourse, and the crowded parliamentary agenda that purportedly leaves scant room for budget debate. She has urged the Speaker to ensure adherence to parliamentary traditions, suggesting rescheduling of other legislative matters to focus on budget discussions.
