Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) General Secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth has declared her party's non-cooperation stance against the central government concerning the contentious delimitation issue. Addressing the media, Premalatha asserted that DMDK will withstand any setbacks and inform the public about future political alliances ahead of the 2026 elections.

In an emphatic statement, Premalatha reiterated, "We will not cooperate with the central government even if we lose. We are committed to fighting against them." Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin unveiled plans for all-party parliamentarians from the state to engage directly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, advocating for fair delimitation.

Under Stalin's leadership, Tamil Nadu has become a frontrunner in the demand for equitable seat allocation by initiating a legislative resolution, holding an all-party meeting, and forming an all-India Joint Action Committee. The state's concerted efforts have made a significant impact nationally, urging the central government to recognize Tamil Nadu's opposition to detrimental delimitation changes.

The proposed meeting with PM Modi aims to address Tamil Nadu's apprehensions regarding any potential reduction in parliamentary representation. The Joint Action Committee, backed by leaders from various states at a meeting in Chennai, emphasized the need for greater transparency and extended the freeze on Parliamentary constituencies until 2046.

Chief Minister MK Stalin highlighted that states like Tamil Nadu should not be penalized for effectively implementing population control measures. The Joint Action Committee's resolution demanded clarity and fairness from the central government to ensure just representation for all states. (ANI)
