In a significant political development, two factions within the Hurriyat Conference, the Jammu and Kashmir People's Movement (JKPM) and the J&K Democratic Political Movement (JKDPM), have formally announced their break from separatist ideology, aiming to align with India's constitutional framework and unity. This announcement, confirmed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday, is seen as a strategic move towards strengthening national unity.

The JKPM, led by Shahid Saleem, and JKDPM, headed by advocate Shafi Reshi, have pledged allegiance to India's Constitution, distancing themselves from the All Parties Hurriyat Conference's separatist agenda. In a public statement, Saleem confirmed their commitment to India's unity, declaring, "I am a loyal citizen of India; my organization and I owe allegiance to the Constitution of India."

Welcoming this shift, Home Minister Shah emphasized that such steps align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for a peaceful and unified Bharat. Shah noted that the Modi government's policies have successfully ousted separatism from Jammu and Kashmir, viewing this as a 'big victory.' The statement also includes a formal warning from Saleem against any association of JKPM with separatist entities, ensuring a legal response if such an alignment is falsely suggested.
