Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has proposed guiding the opposition on performing its duties effectively in the legislative assembly. Asserting the BJP's resilience against rival attempts to divide the alliance government, Fadnavis stressed the importance of the opposition's role in discussing overlooked yet crucial issues.
Sharing his political pedigree, having served as the opposition leader from 2019 to 2022, Fadnavis underscored efforts to take a tough stance on crime, citing recent arrests under the strict Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act. He noted an increase in the state's conviction rate, watching it climb to 50% amidst legal reforms.
The CM also addressed recent controversies including the death of Dalit law student Somnath Suryavanshi. He pledged action if police misconduct was confirmed. On the murder of a Beed district sarpanch, Fadnavis remarked on the use of modern technology in the investigation, promising severe punishment for the guilty.
