Unity Over Division: Gujarat MLA Calls for Respectful Discourse

Imran Khedawala, the sole Muslim MLA in Gujarat's Assembly, requested protection from the Speaker after BJP members made offensive references about him. In the Gujarat Assembly, Imran Khedawala, the lone Muslim MLA, has petitioned the Speaker for protection. He claims that disparaging remarks were made against him by some BJP members, identifying him as belonging to a 'particular community.'

Speaker Shankar Chaudhary responded by counseling all legislators to avoid personal comments, stressing the importance of mutual respect among ministers and MLAs.

Khedawala, representing Ahmedabad's Jamalpur constituency, raised issues regarding a proposed over-bridge affecting Muslim-populated areas. Tensions rose when Minister Jagdish Vishwakarma described impediments faced during its construction, insinuating community-specific encroachments.
