Karnataka's political scene has been recently shaken by allegations of a widespread honey trapping scandal. Despite the gravity of the claims, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara confirmed on Tuesday that no official complaints have been filed regarding the matter.

Minister Parameshwara also addressed concerns over potential phone tapping, clarifying he had consulted with the relevant department, which reported no active complaints. Amidst these controversies, Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar's comments on the Constitution have been defended by Parameshwara, who states that Shivakumar's words were misconstrued.

This evolving scandal took a legal turn as the Supreme Court agreed to hear a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) demanding an independent probe, either by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or a Special Investigation Team (SIT), into the allegations. The petition emphasizes the need for a neutral investigation team, free from state influence, to address accusations that include over 48 individuals allegedly caught in 'honey traps.' This list allegedly spans both state and national leaders.
