In a bold move, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta unveiled the much-anticipated 2025-26 Budget on Tuesday, declaring it a 'historic' blueprint focused on transforming the city's economy. With a staggering allocation of Rs. 1 lakh crore, this budget aims to elevate Delhi into a 'Viksit' state, focusing heavily on women's welfare and infrastructure advancement.

Opposition Leader Atishi did not hold back criticism, pointing accusatory fingers at the government for bypassing the traditional economic survey before crafting the budget. She expressed disbelief over this departure from precedent, highlighting concerns about the government's fiscal approach and accountability. 'It's unusual and concerning,' Atishi stated, questioning the integrity of the budgetary process.

The budget outlines ambitious plans with significant funds earmarked for key initiatives, including Rs. 5,100 crores for the Mahila Samridhi Yojana and Rs. 28,000 crores for capital expenditure. A notable proposal includes Rs. 1000 crores to improve connectivity with the NCR region. Additionally, a top-up of Rs. 5 lakh has been planned for the Ayushman Yojana to bolster healthcare support. The budget also allocates funds for women's safety, infrastructure, and slum development, while taking a sharp aim at alleged revenue losses under the former administration.
