Union Minister Ramdas Athawale has expressed strong disapproval of comedian Kunal Kamra following remarks allegedly directed at Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Athawale accused Kamra of crossing legal boundaries and urged him to apologize, emphasizing the need for legal action against such acts.
Despite facing mounting pressure, Kamra has refused to apologize, a decision that Congress MLA Vijay Wadettiwar defended. Wadettiwar criticized the vandalism at Mumbai's Habitat Centre, arguing that such actions undermine free speech. He remarked on the government's inability to handle criticism and highlighted the discrepancy between Kamra's comedy and freedom of speech.
Maharashtra's Minister of State for Home, Yogesh Ramdas Kadam, and Minister Gulab Raghunath Patil have also voiced severe objections. Kadam described Kamra's behavior as intolerable, and Patil promised retaliatory action if Kamra remains unrepentant. Meanwhile, an FIR has been filed against Kamra, and the Mumbai Police have issued a summons for his remarks, intensifying the controversy.
