In a heated encounter on Monday, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and opposition leader Jai Ram Thakur clashed over the demand for a CBI inquiry into the death of HPPCL chief engineer Vimal Negi. Sukhu asserted that anyone found guilty in the high-level investigation would face necessary consequences.

While addressing the Assembly, CM Sukhu accused the BJP of manipulating federal agencies like the CBI and ED for political leverage, a remark that led to a walkout by BJP members amid slogan-chanting. The controversy erupted after allegations surfaced that Negi's death may have been murder, linked to workplace harassment.

In response to growing demands for a CBI probe, the Chief Minister assured that a thorough and unbiased investigation would be conducted. Sukhu also reviewed crime statistics, highlighting a government-led initiative to curb drug-related crimes and accusations against the former BJP regime for sheltering illegal mining activities.
