The Punjab Assembly witnessed uproarious scenes on Monday as Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira was reportedly denied a chance to speak, prompting a walkout by Congress legislators. The incident underscored ongoing tensions within the assembly over speaking rights and perceived biases in legislative proceedings.

During the session, Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan and Khaira clashed after the latter's repeated attempts to address the house went unheeded. Sandhwan emphasized that it was his discretion to decide who could speak, while Khaira and his supporters accused the Speaker of harboring a grudge.

The disagreement escalated as Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa backed Khaira, arguing for his right to speak on important issues. Despite several pleas, the Speaker allowed others to speak, intensifying accusations of partisan conduct and claims that the democratic process was being undermined.
