The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its demands for Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to dismiss his deputy, DK Shivakumar, after the latter's alleged controversial remarks regarding the Constitution. Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, stated that such comments could be perceived as an attack on constitutional principles.
Amidst the uproar, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju called for clarity on the Congress' stance on religion-based reservations. He insisted Shivakumar's remarks are a grave concern, echoing calls for his resignation. Concurrently, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge reiterated the party's commitment to preserving the Constitution, dismissing allegations of intent to alter it.
As political temperatures rise, Deputy CM Shivakumar staunchly refuted claims he advocated constitutional changes. He accused the BJP of distorting his words for political sabotage. While BJP called his remarks 'propaganda', Shivakumar vowed to explore legal recourse to counter what he terms as a 'misinformation campaign'.
